Willoughby City Council hosted its inaugural ‘Renovations Expo’ on Sustainable House Day - Sunday 8 September 2013. The event built on the popularity of previous sustainable home workshops.
The venue was Willoughby City Council’s own sustainability hub in Chatswood including the community garden in the backyard and the surrounding Currey Park.
The key aim was to develop a diverse program that covered a range of topics as well as provide real examples, expert advice and displays with related services and products.
The program included: workshops, tours, one-on-one consultations with designers & building assessors, displays and stalls for sustainable home product & service providers, giveaways, interactive kids activities, organic food & coffee and music in a sweet garden cafe.
Workshops topics included: passive design, sustainable home energy, sustainable water practices and sustainable building materials. In the garden, the workshop topics included: sustainable landscaping, edible gardens and native landscapes for habitat & water efficiency.
The day was a great success with numbers exceeding Councils targets and a healthy database of interested residents keen on further sustainable home workshops, activities and events.
This expo provided functional & affordable information & advice from a program of workshops, tours, displays and kids activities in a pleasant social environment including organic food, coffee and music.
Strategic program design, development & planning; event consulting and production; marketing overview and program delivery.
